Personal Training with Pam Brewer
I'm a certified personal trainer through AFPA. I have struggled with weight most of my life. Five years ago I lost a total of 120 pounds. At the age of 38 I ran my first half marathon. With obesity on the rise, I feel like I should be working with all ages who are struggling with their weight, based on my own personal experiences, but I'm qualified to work with any age and fitness level. I would give you a specific workout, based on your personal needs and fitness levels, using a combination of cardio, strength training, and flexibility training making it challenging and fun.

Teen Personal Training
I began personal training with Pam during the offseason in February 2009 with the goal of becoming stronger for my freshman basketball season. Going into the training, I was very petite and scrawny, but within the first month I noticed a difference; I was progressively becoming stronger and the results were beginning to show. I distinctly remember struggling with bench pressing the bar (45 lbs) in the first few sessions. However by the end of twenty sessions, I was comfortably benching 60 pounds and had gained a good ten pounds of muscle. I practiced the proper lifting techniques Pam had taught me over the summer as I continued to weight lift hard.
The great strides that I made during the 2009 offseason have prompted me to weight train with Pam after this past 2009-2010 girls basketball season. I began training for the second year back in April. This time, I had the intention of breaking through the plateau of benching 65 pounds. The first week of May I was able to successfully bench 80 pounds for three sets of ten! Over the course of personal training, I have increased by bench press by 40 pounds, gained 30 pounds of lean muscle mass, and added 2.5 inches to my arms. With all gains aside, I have come away from this experience with something more meaningful than strength; confidence and an awesome friend!
Through Pam's positive encouragement and the success she fostered, I have become confident in my abilities, something that I laced last year. Most importantly, I have gained a remarkable friend who motivates me to work harder and settle for nothing less than the best. Pam, thank you for all that you have helped me achieve!

Adult Personal Training
As someone who always focused solely on cardio during her daily workouts, I was excited to incorporate strength training into my workout regime. Working one on one with Pam for three months not only allowed me to learn how to use equipment in the weight room that had once seemed so intimidating, but also how to get in an incredibly effective workout with just free weights and a physio ball. The changes that I have seen in my body over the past few months have been incredible! I not only feel great—my core is stronger and m y arms and legs are more toned—but I love starting my day working out with Pam (her enthusiasm is contagious) and leaving the YMCA with a feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment that stays with me for the rest of the day. I will truly miss my time with Pam—laughing and chatting with her during my training session made the hour fly by—and will forever be indebted to her for providing me with the knowledge and tools to take these workouts with me wherever I go. Thanks for everything, Pam!

The first 10 sessions with Pam, my goal when I started was to lose weight, improve my strength, balance and improve my bowling. After 4 weeks I started to feel better. I lost about 8 pounds and my bowling started to improve. I also found out after checking my blood sugar level, that it was falling Into the safe level and I was able to top taking medication. People were telling me that I was walking more upright. I was starting to feel good about myself and looking forward to working out every day, so I signed up for another 10 sessions of personal training with Pam! Now that I have completed the 2nd set of sessions the results are great! I have lost 13 pounds and my measurements are less than when I started. My bowling has improved a lot and now I can compete. I have learned a lot about the correct way to exercise and that form is just as important as increasing your weight and speed. Personal training has become a part of my life. The last thing about personal training is that I have gained a good friend Pam Brewer my personal trainer.
Thanks Pam,
