Every 2nd Friday the Northwoods Children’s Museum will sponsor the Y's Family Night with crafts, games, snacks and other fun family centered activities!
Every 4th Friday of the Month is Potluck and Bounce House night! You may bring a dish to pass for our “ family style” dinner starting at 5:30PM. Then its time to have some fun in our Bounce House!
February Potluck: A-M– may bring side dish or dessert, N-Z may bring main dish.

The 2nd Annual Richard C. Willette Memorial Swim-a-thon

How many laps can you swim in an hour? Join us as we remember one of our great YMCA of the Northwoods swim instructors Rich Willette. All of the money raised will be used for scholarships for swim lessons in Rich’s memory. Sign up and get a pledge packet from the Welcome Center. All you need is a minimum of $20 in pledges to participate.

The YMCA of the Northwoods presents the Hodag Snow Dash. This inaugural 5km Snowshoe event will be a part of the Lions Fisheree and Winter Festival. The 5km course will wind through Hodag Park and Venture onto Boom Lake.
All participants will receive a Toko winter hat.
There are two classes for the event. The Hodag Snow Dash 5km Open division. This event is timed and will recognize the top 3 overall male finishers and top 3 overall female finishers, with special awards. The Family Tromp is a non timed family event. This event is a great entry into snowshoeing and a fun way to spend some time with the family. All participants in both classes will receive a Toko Winter Hat. Mel's Sporting Goods will be onsite providing free demo's and have snowshoes available for use for both events. First come first served.

Pirates in the Pool

Come one and all! The lifeguards have turned into pirates! Swim teachers are swimming in the seaweed as mermaids. Kids and whole families have to walk the plank. They’re sword fighting with ‘noodle swords” and the who crew is playing tug o’ war. You may row to safety in a rubber raft and there’s a treasure chest and gold coins filled with chocolate. Children under age 6 must have an adult in the water within arm’s reach at all times. Children under age 10 must have an adult on the pool deck.

STOMP at the Grand Theater

Y hosts a bus to the Grand Theater, Wausau
Registration Deadline - February 3
The YMCA will be offering a bus trip to the Grand Theater, Wausau for the performance of STOMP on Thursday, March 22. STOMP is explosive, sophisticated, unique, and appeals to audiences of all ages. This is a must see performance of the international percussion sensation right in our own backyard. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments-matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps-to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.
The cost for this theater performance is $70. The bus leaves the Y, Rhinelander at 5:45PM for the 7:30PM performance. Seats are limited so please register by February 3 by calling the YMCA at 715-362-9622.

Clash of the Paddles Table Tennis Tournament
Clash of the Paddles is a round robin-style table tennis tournament that encourages a wide range of players to compete. Kids and adults will have the chance to battle it out amongst themselves for prizes, while raising money for YMCA scholarships.
Dance the Night Away
Love to dance and rock out? The Y will hold monthly dances for people of all ages. The tunes will range from waltzes, swing, rock and roll to more current music. So grab a partner (or come singly) and enjoy the music and fun. A live band or DJ will be used. Check the website for the band and DJ and location.
Life Guarding
15 or older
Learn the skills and knowledge required to become a lifeguard, including how to recognize, prevent and respond quickly to aquatic emergencies. Learn CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Oxygen Administration and First Aid. Participants will receive certifications after attending all class sessions, passing all written exams, water skills and tests. Prerequisites: Ability to pass pretest which consists of 300-yard swim using front crawl and breast stroke without stopping. Must swim 20 yards using either stroke, perform a surface dive and retrieve a ten pound brick in 7-10 feet of water, then return the brick 20 yards. Girls/woman require one piece suit.

Lifeguarding for Pool and Waterfront
American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding is ideal for lifeguards working at non-surf, open-water environments such as lakes and rivers, as well as traditional pools. The course teaches professionalism, patron and facility surveillance, rescue board techniques, emergency preparedness, and more. This course includes certification for pools.
