Air Force Combat Operations Challenge (AFCOC)

AFCOC Brochure and Registration Form

The Air Force Combat Operations Challenge (AFCOC) is based on the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Physical Ability Stamina Test for three Special Operations specialties Combat Control (CCT), Tactical Air Control Party (TACP), and Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Escape (SERE). The events consist of Underwater Swim (CCT Only), Surface Swim (CCT and SERE Only), Run, Strength Test and a Rucksack March*. Each event is designed to test your limits.

Are you that special breed of warrior that is mentally tougher and physically stronger? Have you ever wondered if you have what it takes to be part of this elite team of heroes? Choose from one of the three challenges and test your abilities! All are welcome to participate.

AFCOC Challenge Descriptions Worksheet

The finish standings for each event of the AFCOC will be recorded based on total time, total repetitions and a pass/fail points system. The pass/fail standards listed on the challenge descriptions worksheet for each Special Operations Specialty are based on the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Physical Ability Stamina Test qualifications to pass and qualify for specified career field. Some standards have been modified for the AFCOC. Participants of the AFCOC finish standings will be recorded based on the following:

  • Underwater Swim: Pass or Fail
  • Surface Swim: Total Time
  • Run: Total Time
  • Strength: Total Repetitions
  • Rucksack March: Total Time

Rest Periods: Participants must rest at least the minimum amount of time specified.

*Rucksack March: Each participant must provide and wear a 25lb pack filled with non-perishable food items. Those who do not provide a rucksack will still be allowed to participate in the Rucksack March, but their time will be disqualified from total standings. Food items will be donated to the Rhinelander Food Pantry after the event.

Elite Class: Those elite individuals that are able to complete the test for their specialty within the AFCOC requirements will gain recognition as part of the Elite Class and be awarded an official U.S. Air Force Rucksack Back Pack.
